Bronze child portrait, 2020

This strong-willed five-year-old knew exactly what she wanted: a portrait with flowers — ideally covering her whole face. Christine chose to weave the flowers into her hair instead: a lily for her purity, a rose for joy and love, and — essential to her — cherry blossom. The flowers were given their own patina, coloured apart from the rest of the portrait, so they stand out just right. To the young sitter’s great satisfaction.
