COMMISSIONS

Would you like a custom artwork — for example for your home or garden, your business, as a tribute, or to celebrate something special? Then get in touch with me. I’d love to talk with you about your wishes and the possibilities.

Portrait

A bronze portrait holds great emotional value for many people. It becomes a truly tangible memory. Unlike a photo, which captures a single moment, a sculpture captures a personality, a feeling. I try to capture someone’s emotion and character in the image I create. To achieve a true likeness, I gather reference material and, where possible, take a few measurements. Once home, I set to work with my hands in modelling wax (or sometimes clay). The result is then shown to you. Only once everyone is satisfied is the sculpture cast in bronze.

Bronze sculpture of a child

As a mother of six, I know all too well how quickly children grow and change. A child is pure, and for that reason the very picture of beauty — one worth capturing. I don’t work with long sitting sessions, but it is nice to meet the child and take some photos. This can simply happen at home, so the child never has to feel uncomfortable.

Of course, all photos are deleted once the process is complete.

Star Child

There is no greater loss imaginable than the loss of a child. A bronze sculpture or portrait can be a beautiful way to capture a child’s memory. Are you in this situation? Take a look here at the possibilities, or get in touch with me directly. Together we can look at what I can do for you.

Open Commissions

Perhaps you’d like an artwork but don’t yet have a clear picture of what it should look like. For me, that’s a wonderful challenge. Through conversation together, ideas naturally emerge, leading to a design that suits you perfectly.

Feel free to get in touch with me. Together we’ll look at the possibilities.

MATERIALS AND PRICES

Creating a sculpture takes a great deal of time and material. It all starts with an armature, a supporting structure. I then shape a sculpture around that armature using modelling wax (or sometimes clay). Once the work is to my satisfaction, I take it to the foundry.

For the bronze casting I work together with bronze foundry Hans Steylaert. They make a silicone mould, cast the sculpture in casting wax and then in bronze. It’s a wonderful process that I’m closely involved in.

Prices

Depending on the size and complexity of the sculpture, the whole process from a block of wax to a finished bronze can take several months. The price depends on the size and complexity of the commission, as well as the time the process takes.

Large Editions

For sculptures in a larger edition, I work together with sculpture foundry TENAX. They cast the sculptures in Neolith, a synthetic resin. The material is lighter, and therefore also more fragile, than bronze, but it does make it possible to cast relatively affordable sculptures in a larger edition. These sculptures can be bronze-coloured, but many other colours can be chosen too.

Prices for a sculpture in Neolith vary and depend on the size of the sculpture and the edition size. Feel free to get in touch for the possibilities
