My love for bronze sculpture began at a young age, when my mother made a portrait of me. From a shapeless lump of clay, she shaped a child’s face that is still admired decades later. It fascinated me.
When I had children of my own and saw how quickly they grow and change, I too felt the urge to capture time and hold it still. I borrowed a bit of my mother’s clay and got to work. Not long after, not only was my first little portrait born, but above all my passion for sculpting. I immersed myself in different artists, styles, materials and tools, and trained under others including Guido Sprenkels and Lothar Vigelandzoon.
Sculptures with a soul
In my sculptures, I try to capture character and feeling — from the innocence of a child to the compassion of an old man. I also try to capture touching moments, such as a child marvelling at nature, or the grief of a woman who has lost her child, with the greatest care.
Commissions
While I always enjoy giving my creativity free rein, I also love working on commission. I’ve had the pleasure of making the most varied sculptures — from a company logo to a bronze bust. No commission is too unusual. It’s a great pleasure to work together with someone to shape exactly what they have in mind for their artwork.
Comforting Bronze
Bronze is an indestructibly strong material. It will stand the test of time. Perhaps that’s exactly why people choose that material to immortalise their loved ones who have passed away. It can be healing to give someone a physical place in your home or at your business. That way, the memory stays alive — forever.
